Hello, reader! I hope you are doing well!
Today, I thought I’d just share some habits I use to write a lot and write decently.
I tend to write more in the evenings, after dinner. For some projects like novel drafts, I use a website that deletes my text if I write too slowly. It ensures that I don’t spend time editing when I should be writing. I also always listen to the same song: Impossible by Thomas Bergersen.
Then, I copy-paste the writing into my Google doc, and that’s it! Lately, I’ve been trying to write a thousand words per day. That’s 30,000 a month, enough to write the average novel in two months. However, editing is something I have yet to master.
A few things I’ve learned from writing:
- Consistency is very important. If you can consistently do something, even for a short period of time, you will make a lot of progress.
- Perfection isn’t important. At least, not the first time. You can always revise later, and if you try to make it perfect initially, you might get burnt out or discouraged.
- Community! The people and fellow writers around me have encouraged me so much in my journey. It’s also very inspiring to be with a group of people all trying to do the same thing as you.
If you’ve read some of my stories here on Legends in Progress, you probably realize that my prose isn’t great, and my descriptions are just okay. It’s something I’m working on. If you have any suggestions for how to improve my writing, please let me know!
I hope you all have benefited from my writing and will continue to do so.
Thank you for your support!
